Seeking out Hampshire’s finest fodder at Winchester’s Farmers Market
Ok so it’s an early start to a Sunday morning but forgo that lie-in (if it’s an option, that is!) and you certainly won’t be disappointed if you mosey on down to Winchester’s fortnightly farmers market. It’s one of the biggest farmers markets in the country with a whopping 95 stalls to whet your appetite.
I definitely recommend going on an empty stomach and indulging in a delicious breakfast on the hoof. The smell of hog roast fills the air so it’s hard to resist a hot pork butty, or if that doesn’t take your fancy, then one of my personal favorites is a Mozzo coffee from Pott’s Pantry accompanied by one of their gorgeous muffins.
Suitably fuelled, then it’s on to the task of hand-selecting some organic fruit and veg, discovering a new pickle, trying out a new variety of sausage, whiffing some pungent local cheese, and hopefully bumping unexpectedly into friends along the way. Then it’s home for a bumper roast, free from additives and airmiles. The perfect Sunday indeed!
